However, we, Code Red, are not finished. We have a ton of fun and exciting events planned for the summer, along with the traditional Summer Camp!

Although we didn’t make the elimination rounds Code Red still earned the Team Spirit award, for our “enthusiastic support of FIRST and gracious professionalism”.

The entire event was webcasted globally on the website, and you can click here to watch any present and future webcasts. Also, we had an FTC demonstration field set-up at the event and will also have it at the Michigan State Championship. You can learn more about the FTC program for middle-schoolers by clicking here.

With a new and improved robot, we did great! We even managed to balance our bot on the bridge–more than once! We were also presented the Inspiration in Engineering award for our help in starting FIRST Tech Challenge for Middle Schoolers in Michigan. We had an FTC field set up in the lobby for people to come check out, and plenty of information for kids, parents, and mentors to starts their own FTC team.

Alongside representing FTC, we had a table for donations to our friends at Lutheran Child Family Services. Thanks to all the awesome people attending the competition, we received a large amount of donations. Thank you to everyone who helped out!

volunteers and staff were so enthusiastic about their work! It was
amazing to see FIRST spreading!

For our first competition of the year, Code Red did a great job. We made friends with many of the rookie teams, and found out exactly what we need to succeed the season. We even managed to win the Team Spirit award!

The team gathered at Grand Valley State University’s Eberhard Center in downtown Grand Rapids for the big unveiling of this year’s game. Right now, the team is hard at work designing and building a robot play the game of “Rebound Rumble”.

The 2012 “Rebound Rumble” robotics game is played between two Alliances of three teams each. Each Alliance competes by trying to score as many of the basketballs in the hoops as possible during the two-minute and 15-second match. Balls scored in higher hoops score teams more points. Team Alliances are awarded bonus points if they are balanced on bridges at the end of the match. More information can be found here.

Important dates coming up:

-Come see our 2012 robot on Saturday, February 18, at 6:00 PM at our Open House.

-Our first competition will be at Kettering University on Friday and Saturday, March 2-3. More specific information can be found here.

-The second competition will be at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI, on Friday and Saturday, March 16-17.
